Short-Term Rehabilitation Frequently Asked Questions

Yes, we accept older adults who are nonresidents of StoneRidge for senior rehab at Avalon Health Center.

At StoneRidge, our physical therapy program concentrates on building strength, improving balance, and increasing range of motion and endurance. It can help reduce pain, restore mobility and shorten recovery time after orthopedic surgery.

Occupational therapy helps people do specific daily activities that have become difficult because of a disorder or injury. For example, occupational therapists help people develop their motor skills to make activities such as eating or dressing easier. They may also use adaptive techniques to help people compensate for impairments so they can accomplish tasks in new ways.

Our speech therapy program helps people articulate words, understand what they hear or read, ease difficulties with swallowing and restore memory. Speech therapy is helpful for people who’ve had a stroke, head injury or who suffer from a nervous system disorder, such as ALS or multiple sclerosis.

Aquatic therapy is similar to physical therapy only it takes place in a pool. The buoyancy provided by the water supports your weight and reduces stress on the joints when exercising. At StoneRidge, aquatic therapy builds strength, endurance and range of motion in a warm, relaxing saltwater pool.
