StoneRidge Counselor Named President of Mystic Women’s Club
July 17, 2020: Shannon Lewis, lead residency counselor at StoneRidge Senior Living Community, was named president of the Mystic Women’s Club at the group’s June meeting. She succeeds outgoing President Sue Rieger and will hold the term for two years.
Lewis has been a member of the Mystic Women’s Club for three years. Most recently she was vice president and social media chair.
“I’ve been living in Mystic for 13 years and I have long admired the legacy of the Mystic Women’s Club, but I couldn’t join because I was commuting to a job one hour away each day for more than 20 years which left little time for volunteer work. When I landed at StoneRidge in 2017, I was overjoyed because now I live and work right here in Mystic which has given me the opportunity to immerse myself in this wonderful community. I’ve long admired the work of the Mystic Women’s Club and my goal as president is to grow our membership base with community-minded women of all ages so that we may this organization’s rich legacy,” said Lewis.
In addition to running a Thrift Shop, the Women’s Club has adopted a section of Noank Ledyard Road that they clean and maintain, they provide clothing and household items to victims of natural disasters, sell poinsettias for a holiday fundraiser and use the proceeds to help fund four community scholarships that they fund for high school students at Fitch, Stonington, Marine Science Magnet High School and Grasso Tech.
The mission of the Mystic Woman’s Club is to build community, improve the quality of life and chart a charitable and environmentally responsible path for the residents of Southeastern Connecticut.
