Culturally Curious: Berlin and Kern: Foundations of American Song

Journey through the lives of American popular music’s founding fathers in this captivating exploration of Irving Berlin and Jerome Kern. Though these two musical giants came from vastly different backgrounds—Berlin, the Russian-born immigrant who never learned to read music, and Kern, the classically trained American composer—together they laid the groundwork for all American popular music that would follow.

This engaging presentation weaves together biography, musical history, and unforgettable performances of the songs that changed our cultural landscape forever.
